Turn a real-world color reference into a professionally organized range of custom wrap-film possibilities. Upload an image, select the exact area you want to explore and compare up to 110 coordinated color variations before ordering physical samples.
Custom Color Matching is designed for projects that begin with a visual reference rather than an existing wrap-film code. Upload a photo, select the area that represents the color you want and use the generated variation range to explore nearby lighter, darker, warmer, cooler, softer and more intense directions.
This process is especially useful when recreating a discontinued shade, coordinating with painted parts or interiors, developing a company color, or finding the closest practical wrap-film direction from an object or image.
A screen preview cannot reproduce every effect created by ink, film, overlaminate, lighting and viewing angle. Final decisions should be made from the produced sample in the environment where the material will be used.
Work through the process in order. A strong reference image and careful sample evaluation will give you a more reliable path to the final film.
Choose a clear photo of the vehicle, painted part, product, material, logo or other color source.
Use the image picker on the exact area that best represents the shade you want to develop.
Control whether neighboring variations remain very close or explore a broader range around the selected color.
Compare the coordinated colors and identify the directions that best support your project.
Select the available graphic film, overlaminate and appearance that should be represented in the physical samples.
Evaluate the physical samples in real lighting, choose the final swatch and keep its order and swatch information.
The selected pixel is affected by the photograph itself. A better image gives the tool a more useful starting color.
Develop a wrap direction around an existing paint color, rare shade, restored part or discontinued vehicle color.
Start from a logo, product image, signage reference or approved visual standard and create physical options.
Coordinate with upholstery, trim, architectural finishes, furniture, accessories or other project materials.
Explore color from fashion, nature, artwork, photography or any visual source that inspires the project.
Image capture, lighting, screen settings, printing, film color, overlaminate and surface finish can all influence the result. Always approve the physical sample before ordering full rolls or beginning installation.
Our team can help with Color Lab workflow questions, sample planning, film and finish selection, sizing, order details and general product guidance. Choose the most convenient way to reach us.
This description provides general product and workflow guidance. Available films, finishes, overlaminates, sizes, production methods and policies may change. Digital previews and uploaded images are approximate and are affected by cameras, lighting, displays and color conversion. Always inspect and approve the physical sample before ordering custom wrap film. 3M and Avery Dennison are trademarks of their respective owners.
Custom color wrap film is made to deliver a clean, continuous color transformation. Follow this practical guide to prepare, position, apply, conform, trim and finish the material while protecting its color, surface finish and long-term adhesion.
Custom color film should create a smooth, uninterrupted appearance across the wrapped surface. Dirt, wax, silicone, moisture, rough repairs and loose paint can weaken adhesion or remain visible beneath the finished material. Excessive stretching or concentrated heat can also change the perceived color, gloss level or surface texture.
Before removing any liner, confirm the approved color and finish, inspect the complete roll and temporarily position each required piece. Plan the direction of the material, panel coverage, seams where unavoidable, and the order in which the vehicle or surface will be wrapped.
Do not use stretching to compensate for poor positioning or material that was cut too short. Reposition while possible and preserve a consistent color and finish across every part of the project.
Review the complete process before beginning. Work in a clean environment, keep the material supported and inspect the color and finish throughout the installation.
Wash, decontaminate and inspect the substrate so the film bonds to a clean, stable surface.
Measure every area, include working allowance and temporarily position the film before exposing adhesive.
Release the liner gradually and use controlled squeegee pressure while keeping the material relaxed.
Use broad, controlled heat and redistribute tension instead of forcing the film into complex shapes.
Create clean edges, safe cut lines and relaxed returns without damaging the substrate underneath.
Heat-set stretched and high-stress zones to the exact temperature specified for the selected material.
Check color consistency, edges, bubbles and adhesion before exposing the wrap to washing or harsh conditions.
The expandable sections keep the guide easy to scan while providing practical instructions for solid-color material, curves, edges and finishing work.
Adhesive film performs best on a clean, dry, smooth and stable substrate. Contamination left beneath the film can remain visible or weaken the final bond.
Correct sizing and temporary positioning reduce unnecessary stretching and help maintain a consistent finish across the completed surface.
Post-heating helps reduce the material’s tendency to return toward its original shape in areas that were stretched or formed. The correct temperature depends on the exact film and finish system.
Clean, compatible tools improve control and help protect the custom color surface. Replace damaged or contaminated tools before they mark the material.
Compatibility depends on the selected base film, overlaminate, finish, adhesive and substrate. Review current technical data and test a spare piece first.
Knifeless tape contains a fine cutting filament. It is positioned underneath the film before application and creates a controlled cut when the filament is pulled.
Knifeless tape supports safer, controlled finishing without placing a cutting blade directly against the wrapped surface.
Commonly used for curves, accents and custom finishing paths.
Commonly used for straight or gently curved cuts near panel edges and boundaries.
Designed to span selected seams or gaps while supporting a controlled cut.
Our team can help with custom color sample information, film and overlaminate selection, sizing, compatible tools, order questions and general installation guidance. Choose the most convenient way to reach us.
This guide provides general installation information and does not replace the current technical documentation supplied by the selected film, overlaminate, adhesive, tape, tool or chemical manufacturer. Material compatibility, approved surfaces, application method, heat limits, post-heating temperatures, durability and warranty requirements vary by product. Digital colors are approximate; approve the physical custom color sample before ordering or installation. Professional installation is recommended.
